from the florist’s point of view: an intimate english wedding in new york

I’m delighted to have Jeffrey Marcus of JM Visuals join us again and treat us to more of his amazing work. Jeffrey was recently hired to design an intimate English wedding for a couple who wanted to capture the magnificence that is Central Park in summer. Keeping the couple’s color palette of green and white in mind, Jeffrey designed a romantic collection of modern yet romantic pieces that included many of my favorite flowers! Thanks to Jeffrey for sharing his work with us and for his incredible insight.

Jeffrey writes, It was a perfect summer day in August when Janine and Andy, a couple from the United Kingdom chose the Central Park Conservatory Garden as the site for their New York wedding ceremony. The wedding’s white and green theme echoed the natural setting of the English Gardens Burnett Fountain where the couple exchanged their vows.

The bride’s bouquet is a modern and romantic arrangement of white Phalaenopsis orchids, twists of Sea Grass and green Cymbidium orchids and the bridesmaids’ bouquets echoed hers, sans the Cymbidium orchids.

The groom is adorned with a boutonniere made of miniature white Calla Lilies and Sea Grass with a Horsetail accent. The groomsmen had a similar boutonniere with miniature green Cymbidium orchids.

With their family and friends, the couple held an intimate wedding banquet at Restaurant Daniel in the Upper East Side. The banquet table showcased a linear array of white boxes of miniature white Calla lilies in sculptural formation surrounding a zen hedge of Horsetail, alternating with rows of votives and green Cymbidium orchid arrangements.

The private dining area was also decorated with a contemporary arrangement of wrapped Colocasia leaves, and bouquets of large white Calla lilies, accented by loops of Sea Grass. The cake is designed by JM Visuals with Restaurant Daniel, featuring a nosegay of Green Star Gladiolas surrounded by a band of grass.
