Wedding Response Cards Made Easy
When you are preparing for your wedding day, it is important to know how many people plan to attend. Without a clear head count, you have only a vague idea of what to plan for. To create a low stress wedding, add wedding response cards to your wedding invitations. Wedding response cards can be ordered either online or through your local stationer, or can be made easily at home using your computer and your imagination.
What response cards do is request guests to respond to y our invitation. The response cards that you choose to pair with your wedding invitations can show formality, can be for your convenience, and can also make your invitation stand out more than it would all on its own. Choosing and making your own response cards can be a fun task that you enjoy all the way through.
When it comes to wedding response cards, there are so many options that you can really have a lot of fun letting your personality shine through. Depending upon the tone you wish to convey in your response card and invitation, you will want to use specific wording. Colors and themes can be played with, as can the actual wording.
The most common styles of response card wording are:
The favor of a reply is requested
by June 1, 2009.
M__________________________
____Accepts with pleasure
____Declines with regrets
or
M_____________________________
Will ______ Attend
The first line is meant for your guest to fill in Ms, Mr. or Mrs., and write their name(s). In the first RSVP option, they will simply check off whether or not they can come. In the second option, your guest will respond in the affirmative by writing their name on the first line and leaving the space in between “will” and “attend” blank. If they cannot attend your event, they will write “not” in between “will” and “attend”.
For More Casual and Fun Response Cards, wording can be:
We look forward to
celebrating with you.
Please reply by June 1, 2009
M___________________________
____ accepts _____ regrets
Another option is:
We have reserved two seats in your honor.
M___________________________
{ } Accept with pleasure
{ } Decline with regret
Please respond by June 1, 2009
Or How about:
M___________________________
____is/are looking forward to dining, dancing, and celebrating
____has/have to miss the fun
For the Truly Unique, Take a Mad Lib Approach:
____________!
(Exclamation)
_____________ is/are ____________ to attend
(Your name{s}) (able/unable)
There are
___________ people in our crew.
(total number)
Please respond by June 1, 2009
If your wedding is going to be a formal affair and you need to know how many people will be in attendance, you can add a line in your response card for # who will be in attendance. This line can be as simple as “ _____ will be attending”.
Another important aspect of the response card is who it gets mailed back to. Clearly you are including response cards with your wedding invitations because you want to know how many people to expect at your wedding. Therefore, you want to make sure to have response cards returned to someone who will handle them responsibly. Typically, pre-addressed and stamped response envelopes are included and sent back to the bride or her parents.
