Classic Wedding Hair

Wedding hair is one of those things that changes ever so slightly over the years but that continues to captivate brides’ attention for months leading up to their special day. Why? Your bridal hair style is the crowning jewel of your bridal attire. It is the final straw, if you will, after months of dress and veil shopping because it is the final element that ties the whole look together.
Without the right hairstyle, your dress will lose its appeal, your veil will not sit properly and your face will not glow as it should.
This all sounds so complicated but really, bridal hairstyles can be summed up into a few basic categories, or launch pads, that a stylist can use as a guide and personalize it to suit your particular needs.
Here are the basics that lead to classic bridal hair. These are the basic styles brides have been working with for decades:
- The bun – pulled tightly to the back of the head with little or no loose hair around the face
- The up do – pulled tightly to the back of the head. It can sit high or low on the head; it is usually ornate and intricate.
- The messy up do – a gentle up do revealing lots of loose locks around the face and neck
- The French twist – pulled tightly back to reveal a vertical or horizontal twist of the hair which is secured usually at the back of the head or along the sides by the ears extending to the back.
- The Chignon – pulled tightly back and arranged in a series of knots at the nape of the neck
- The Half Up Do – the front of the hair is styled away from the face and secured near the top of the head. The back of the hair is left to hang in loose curls.

First, you must choose a style that will compliment both your face and your dress. Consult with your stylist to ensure that your chosen look will work with your hair and experiment well in advance of your event to make sure all systems go!
