Destination weddings can get any bride excited. The idea of saying your “I do” in a far-flung exotic paradise is a dream for many brides. One good example would be ensuring the safe transportation of your wedding gown. Whether you are going to fly into the location or board any other type of vehicle to get there, making sure that your dress arrives in top condition is one of your foremost priorities. • Choose the right destination wedding dress

Even before you worry how you are going to fit the gown into the suitcase, you must first think about buying a wedding dress that would be suitable to the type of destination wedding that you are going to have. If you are going to be married in a hot weather, choose a dress that is made of light and comfortable fabric. It is also a good idea to go for fabrics that drape well and crease resistant such as chiffon and charemeuse. Since they fold up easily, they do not take up much room.

• Check in the gown as hand/carry-on baggage

If you are going to fly to your wedding destination, contact the airline and reserve a space in their hanging closet. Another option would be to pack the dress carefully with acid-free tissue paper in a box that is small enough to fit into the overhead luggage bin. It would be a good idea to inquire with the airline the specific size of its overhead bin so you can pack it in a box that is of the right size.

• Send the dress via courier

Go for this option only when the previous one mentioned would not work for you such as when there is only limited space in the airplane. Before sending out the dress, be sure to pack it carefully in layers of acid-free tissue paper to avoid damaging or stain the fabric. Choose a hard box that would not be crushed during transit. Send the dress early and contact the hotel right away to know if the dress arrived safely.

• Contact hotel or local cleaner

Call up the hotel or any reliable local cleaner and ask if they can press or steam your wedding gown on the morning of your wedding day. Even though you have packed the dress very carefully, it is inevitable that there would still be little creases on the material.
